This project is a hand-drawn 2D animation created using both Procreate and Procreate Dreams. The visual assets were illustrated frame-by-frame, then sequenced and animated using Dreams’ timeline and keyframe tools. The animation also combines hand-drawn elements with real-world backgrounds, creating a strong contrast between the character’s inner world and the physical environment.
In addition to visual production, our team collaboratively wrote the script and performed voice acting to enhance the emotional tone and narrative clarity of the animation. To extend the project beyond the screen, we also designed and built a social media website as an interactive platform to showcase the animation, engage the audience, and expand the project’s reach across digital spaces.
Project Description：Torn between prestigious offers and his passion for filmmaking, a high school senior must risk disappointing his parents to follow the dream that truly makes him feel alive.
Role: Scene Illustration, Storyboarding & Lighting Design
Illustrating all scenes and shots: Designing and drawing each scene and camera angle based on the script, ensuring that the visual composition supports the narrative and emotional tone.
Creating the storyboard: Translating the script into a clear visual sequence by drawing detailed storyboards that indicate camera movements, framing, and timing, serving as a blueprint for production.
Lighting and shading: Designing the lighting setup and rendering shadows to enhance depth, mood, and atmosphere, contributing to a more immersive and visually cohesive presentation.
Process
All of the process work and sketches are included on the webpage.
I first designed the character model using line-art sketches.
Then I drew the scene and decided on the perspective.
After that, I added colour and adjusted the lighting and shadows.
Finally, I selected suitable real-world backgrounds to place around the illustration.
